Bringing Stories to Life Through the Lens
Throughout my life, people have often told me I have an eye for photography – and it’s true, I’ve always been drawn to capturing moments that matter. What started as a simple love for taking pictures naturally evolved into a deeper passion for visual storytelling.
I had the privilege of working alongside a talented wedding photographer as a second shooter, where I discovered my love for candid, authentic moments – the in-between shots that truly tell the story of the day. Later, I volunteered with a Glasgow-based filmmaker, learning on the job how to capture B-roll, craft narratives, and edit footage into cohesive, emotional stories.
In recent years, that fascination with storytelling has led me to explore videography more intentionally. Across different roles and projects, I’ve found myself gravitating toward video as a way to connect people, share experiences, and bring ideas to life.
Below are a few examples of my videography work – each one a glimpse into the stories I’ve had the privilege to help tell.
Cold Water Swimming
I filmed and edited this piece capturing a local wild swimming group’s New Year celebration. The aim was to reflect what cold-water swimming means to them – community, resilience, and joy in the cold.
Purple Friday Campaign (2022)
I created this video for LGBT Youth Scotland’s 2022 Purple Friday fundraising campaign. It tells the story of Glasgow-based artist Jay Wardrop, who designed the campaign’s t-shirt, highlighting creativity, identity, and community pride.
Purple Friday Campaign (2021)
Developed and edited during lockdown, this video brought together LGBT Youth Scotland staff for a simple, DIY-style campaign that spread the Purple Friday message and drummed up support while connecting people across the country.
No Fear – Music Video
I filmed and edited this video for my own band many moons ago, covering a song by X Factor contestant Saara Aalto. Featuring intimate close-ups and a warm, nostalgic finish, it captures the personal, down-to-earth feel and connection of the band – it landed well with Saara’s fans and overnight, we received thousands of likes!
Portrait of a Yoga Teacher
A short film introducing Deborah Kennedy of Restoring Balance Massage and Movement, Glasgow. I aimed to capture Deborah’s thoughtful approach to teaching and how yoga supports people in living healthier, more balanced lives.
Kiltwalk Promotional Video
A promotional piece encouraging participation in the Kiltwalk to support LGBT Youth Scotland. I filmed, interviewed, and edited the video, combining original footage with material provided by the Kiltwalk to create an uplifting and motivating call to action.
Purple Friday Campaign (2023)
I created this video for LGBT Youth Scotland’s 2023 Purple Friday fundraising campaign. It tells the story of Glasgow-based printmaker Anna Hyde, who designed the campaign’s t-shirt, highlighting creativity and community impact.
Portrait of a Massage Therapist
A short film featuring Deborah Kennedy, Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist at Restoring Balance Massage and Movement, Glasgow. The video highlights Deborah’s approach to massage therapy and the many benefits it offers her clients.
Wait For The Sunrise – Music Video
I directed and edited the official music video for Wait For The Sunrise from our debut EP. Cinematography and color grading were by Yutsil Hoyo Diaz Martinez. This project let me shape the pacing, and overall visual tone while collaborating closely with the cinematographer to bring the song to life.
